DTN COMMENTS: A light trade is being reported in parts of the South at midday
at $138, compared to last week's weighted averages, that is steady in Texas,
but roughly $1 lower in Kansas. Other than a few scattered live bids by a
Regional the North remains very quiet with asking prices not established as
of yet. Packer inquiry should continue to improve as the day progresses.
The Fed Cattle Exchange Auction held today reported 10 lots, totaling 1,628
head
of cattle, all listings were for Texas. Only 1 lot (265 head) sold at $138.
Beef cutouts are lower at midday (choice 265.55 -1.59, select 241.33 -1.98)
with light to moderate box movement (30.48 lds of choice cuts, 15.97 lds of
select cuts, 0.02 lds of trim, and 9.69 lds of ground). Cattle futures near
the noon hour are mostly modestly lower on live contracts, and moderately to
sharply lower on feeder issues.
NOTE: Feedlots are encouraged to call DTN with any cattle sales, at
1-800-369-7675, ext. 3678. All sales will be listed anonymously and
organized by state. All live sales are FOB and set for 1-9-day delivery. A
